Degrees and Certifications:
For many years, working with special needs children has been my passion, and my education and work experience in this area have only furthered my desire to continue my career in this field.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development from Wayland Baptist University in 2012 and earned my teacher certification through A+ Texas Teachers Alternative Certification Program the following year.
My education at WBU, as well as my 20 plus years experience in the workplace, have enabled me to develop many skills essential to position in the education system. These skills include: written and verbal communication skills, data collection, scaffolded lesson planning, and sensitivity to diverse cultures and needs, among many more.
Most importantly, my life experiences and struggles as a student with learning and medical disabilities have taught me that what I do as an educator/mentor is an integral factor in determining whether a student succeeds in his/her education as well as in life, so it is crucial that I do my job very well. I am convinced that the classroom is one of the most important settings in a student’s life and I have seen the impact that competent and caring teachers can have on a student.
