Mrs. Smith
Christina Smith graduated from the University of Texas at Austin as an Aerospace Engineer. She began her post graduate career at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) as a Flight Controller. She spent 10 years working as a Flight Controller with the Space Shuttle Program and International Space Station (ISS) Program and 3 years working as a Cargo Coordinator for hardware deliveries to the ISS. One of the many roles she had included working as Data Flight Controller Command trainer and as a Cargo Coordination Lead where she mentored others. Christina is most proud of the Silver Snoopy she was awarded for her work as a Cargo Coordinator at JSC.
As the Shuttle Program ended, Christina chose to relocate with her family to New Braunfels Texas where she became a regular volunteer at her children's elementary school. After making connections with some students in small group tutoring sessions, she found a new passion in teaching and returned to the classroom herself to earn her teaching certificate. Eager to share her experience in how math is used in the real-world, Christina chose to pursue a career as a high school math teacher. Her college course work as an engineer made her qualified to teach mathematics. She has been teaching at Clemens for 7 years.
