Degrees and Certifications:
Incredible to think this will be my 16th year with SCUC! The district must be doing something right because I'm staying until it is time for me to say goodbye.
I earned a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio as a non-traditional student. Quite frankly, I was not ready for college after I graduated from High School. Sure, I took a few classes at San Antonio College, then at St. Phillips College, but my enthusiasm waned and I dropped out to work. Why, you may ask, because I did not see the value, or the why, or did not have the encouragement to press on in my studies. Yes, I was an At-Risk kid, economically disadvantaged, single family home, and I was in jeapordy of not graduating due to a failing grade in my senior English class. Ironic, I know!
Well, here I am teaching English Language Arts 18 years later and I want my students to know I believe in you, I will encourage you to be your best, I will give you purpose in learning, I will never give up on you, I am here to help you succeed and I see the value in your education wherever that may take you.
For nine week syllabus, curriculum, and announcements we will be using Google Classroom. Students will be given a class code to join. I'm happy to invite parents as well. Send me an email and I will invite you to join.
