    Accountability ratings are assigned to every district and campus in the Texas public education system each year. On August 15, 2022, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) released the new accountability results regarding student performance in the 2021-2022 school year. Schertz Cibolo Universal City ISD received an overall score of 87 (B) with no distinctions from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). This is the first time the TEA has released statewide accountability ratings and distinctions since 2019. Ratings are one of many ways to measure performance and to see how well your child’s school is serving children. Schools use their ratings and data to improve the learning  experience in the coming school year and beyond. 

    Parents are encouraged to visit TXschools.gov to view school ratings designed to be useful tools to see how a school or district is doing in different areas.  The report cards spotlight specific strengths, in addition to any challenges, so that we can work to assure the needs of all students are being met.  Parents can search by district or school name and compare the district's or school's performance to others in their area. 

    Overall State Accountability Ratings are calculated on performance in three key areas.

    1. Student Achievement - For high schools and districts, performance on STAAR makes up 40% of the overall Student Achievement grade. College, Career, and Military Readiness makes up 40% and 20% is based on Graduation Rates. Elementary and middle schools Student Achievement grade is solely based on STAAR performance.

    2. School Progress - Measures how students perform on STAAR this year versus last year or how a district/campus compares to similar districts on progress standards.

    3. Closing the Gaps - Measures the % of different groups of students that are performing above targets set by the state in four areas - Grade Level Performance "Meets" on STAAR, Academic Growth/Graduation Rate, English Language Proficiency, Student Achievement in terms of CCMR.

    Distinction Designations are awarded in recognition of outstanding achievement in specific areas. Campus distinctions are based on student performance in the areas listed below in comparison to forty similar campuses. 

    • Academic Achievement in Reading/English Language Arts (campus only)

    • Academic Achievement in Mathematics (campus only) 

    • Academic Achievement in Science (campus only) 

    • Academic Achievement in Social Studies (campus only) 

    • Top 25 Percent: Comparative Academic Growth (campus only) 

    • Top 25 Percent: Comparative Closing the Gaps (campus only) 

    • Postsecondary Readiness (campus and district)

    The new TXSchools.gov website contains interactive accountability rating summaries and detailed reports for each district, campus, and open-enrollment charter school in the state of Texas.

    Distinctions

    The last year TEA awarded distinctions to districts was in 2019, Texas schools could earn distinctions in seven areas:  (Distinctions were not awarded in 2020 or 2021 due to the limited data available during Covid-19)
