CTE Endorsements and Career Clusters

CTE Endorsements and Career Clusters Defined
In support of the State of Texas’ college and career planning initiative known as Achieve Texas, SCUCISD has developed twelve (12) Career Clusters which represent the fourteen (14) nationally recognized career clusters. Each Career Cluster contains multiple Programs of Study (POS) and suggested 4-year plans, which combine rigorous academics and relevant career and technical education to create a plan of study that has real focus and purpose for our students. A POS consists of a recommended coherent sequence of courses based on the student’s interest, skills, and college and career goals and provides the student and his/her family with a seamless transition to employment and/or postsecondary education and to higher wage, higher skill, and higher demand jobs in the workforce.
Students are encouraged to choose a Career Cluster as a first step in building their Program of Study (POS). Students will be able to make changes each year in their POS as necessary for their continued academic achievement and as their college and career plans are refined. Simply contact your College and Career Readiness Advisor or your Career and Technical Education teacher for assistance. While each POS has recommended courses for each year of high school, students should work closely with parents, CTE teachers, College, Career, and Military Readiness advisors, and counselors to ensure that the chosen Endorsement and POS continues to be relevant for each student’s educational development.
