I will be teaching the curriculum, Zones of Regulation to Kinder students, as well as 1st and 2nd grade this year.
The Zones of Regulation is a curriculum designed to help teach children skills to learn to self-regulate their emotions. The Zones of Regulation have 4 zones (red, yellow, blue & green) and each zone has various emotions (ex: red= anger, blue= sad, yellow=nervous, excited, green= focused, ready to learn).
It's important for students to understand that it is normal to be in any of the 4 zones but we want to self-regulate to get into the green zone (the happy, calm, ready to learn zone).
I will be using a variety of video clips and books to teach the Zones to our students. Below is a list of the clips and books I will be using. I have also attached various links that you may use to help implement the Zones at home, if you would like. I use the characters of Inside Out to help the students understand the various emotions as well as how they work in our body.
Books to teach Zones:
The Color Monster
When Sophie feels Angry
Sam and his pet Temper
Allie All Along
