Welcome to Watts' Attendance Home Page
Official Attendance is taken at 9:35 a.m.
*In case of an absence parents/guardians are requested to notify the school by 9:30 a.m. to report the absence and make arrangements for continuence of academic work.
*Calling in a student does not excuse the absence.
*Remember to send an excuse note anytime your child is absent. Notes should include student's first and last name, date(s) of absence, reason for absence, current telephone number in case of questions, and be signed by the parent/guardian. You can also click on this link, Watts Absence Form to submit an absence note.
*Absence notes should be submitted to the school within 3 days of the absence(s) otherwise the absence(s) will be considered unexcused.
*If the student spends some part of the day in school and he/she is out for a medical/dental appointment, a note from the care provider is required to excuse the absence. Please note that physician's notes count differently.
*Absences will only be excused for reasons that are excused according to the SCUCISD Student Handbook - see link below.
*A Truancy Warning Letter will be sent when a student has 3 unexcused absences. Further notices and/or contact will be necessary if a student continues to have unexcused absences. Ten or more unexcused absences will likely result in contact from the district truancy officer and possible court appearances and/or fines.
*According to state law, a student may not be given credit (or promoted) unless the student is in attendance for at least 90% of the school year.
*The tardy bell rings at 8:10 a.m. Students will be counted tardy if they are not in their classroom when the tardy bell rings. Students who are tardy for class must be signed in through the office by a parent/guardian.
Parents are asked to help students learn to value education and understand the importance of arriving at school on time and ready to learn. The habits developed by children during their elementary years will last a lifetime.
