Public Policy & The Economy
This unit bundles student expectations that address the role the government plays in the operation of the U.S. economy. The goal in the free enterprise system is to limit government interference in the economy, yet public policies specifically aimed at the money supply in the economy affect the free enterprise system. It is important for students to examine public policies to understand how government interacts with the economy in the United States.
Prior to this unit, students studied about the relationship between business, economic growth in the economy and business cycles.
During this unit, students study about the functions of money, the operations of the Federal Reserve System, monetary policy as instituted by the Federal Reserve, and governmental fiscal policy.
