Culinary Arts

    Welcome to Culinary Arts!
Culinary Arts is a lab-based course that involves an even balance of theory
and actual hands on lab and work experience. Steele High School uses the
Goodheart-Wilcox curriculum with teacher supplements to enhance learning.
Our program involves an industry-driven curriculum that is geared to stimulate
the logic, as well as the passion that is necessary to succeed in the food service
industry. Coupled with relevant work experience through an on-campus catering and
teacher luncheon service, the curriculum fosters an enriching experience, providing
the opportunity for students to develop and practice skills critical to their future
success. Our rigorous program challenges students to face their own development
    toward self-responsibility and leadership.
We will use the Goodheart-Wilcox Curriculum and Textbook related to the course.

A calendar of current practical experiences
will be updated regularly on this website on the left-side panel.
We participate in Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America to get
students involved in a student-led organization that also provides an array of opportunities
to gain leadership experiences and attitudes, as well as participate in competitive events.
Culinary Arts students also have the opportunity to participate in
competitive events hosted by various industry partners, including the Art Institute,
St. Phillips College, University of Houston, and HEB.
Please take advantage of this website to stay on track!
I will post important events, instructions for assignments,
and expectations for the course through Google Classroom.
