8th Grade U.S. History
Welcome to 8th grade U.S. History. My name is Donna Ulveling and I will be your child’s History teacher this year. I am including the policies and procedures for your child to follow in my class to have a successful year. It is my goal for the students to become active participants in their education, take on more responsibility and make sure they are ready for high school.
Supplies: 1 (200 pages/ front to back) Composition Notebook (No Spirals, please), pencils/pens. We will use scissors, glue and map pencils on a regular basis. Students are more than welcome to use their own supplies to ensure that they have the necessary materials. Composition Notebooks will be used everyday. Please bring a pencil to class!!
Donations of tissues and Clorox Wipes are always welcome.
Grades: Formative grades are worth 50% and include: daily work, homework and quizzes. Summative grades are 50% and include: exams and projects. Students will take Quaterly Exams. Students will need a Tx Connect account (to register for next year) and for them to take responsibilty for their grades. Please sign up for an account and monitor your student’s grades.
Assignments: Classroom assignments are expected to be completed during class time. Students will have homework. Late assignments will be accepted with a late penalty as stated in the Corbett Student Handbook and in accordance with the district grading policy. Late assignments WILL NOT be accepted after three (3) days.
Asssignments will be posted on Google Classroom, and can be printed out.
Absent: Students are responsible to getting all missing assignments upon their return to school. Students will have two days to complete the missing assignments for each day they were absent.
Tardy Policy: Students will be in their seats when the bell rings.
1st Offense: Verbal Warning
2nd Offense: Verbal Warning
3rd Offense: Parent Contact
4th Offense: Office Referral
Google Classroom: Students will sign up for Goole Classroom within the first weeks of school. Class codes are located on my homepage.
Textbooks: Textbooks for our class are available on line at Connected. Students will receive a personal account and log-in information within the first few weeks of school. Textbooks can be viewed on a computer, tablet or phone. Instructions on adding the textbook in thier portal will be in their comp book.
Remind: I do use remind to text out reminders about assignments and information on our class. Please have your student sign up for Remind. Parents are welcome to sign up too!
