Update 3/20 - Remote Learning Plan for Families:Hi Shop Students / Parents,
First off, I hope this update finds you and your family safe and healthy. As you know, all SCUC campuses have been closed until April 3. At this time, SCUC ISD plans on reopening schools and offices on Monday, April 6, 2020 but things also change quickly.
The last couple of days, teachers met with campus administration to review the plan for remote instruction. Topics discussed included attendance, assignments, lesson development, and technology. This is going to be a learning process for all of us, and I want to express my heartfelt thanks for all that you are doing to keep your students on track academically. This is an unprecedented situation which is going to require teamwork and patience. While not ideal, I feel confident that we are making the best of an awful situation.
Our grade level teams will be meeting over the next couple of days to develop and collaborate lessons that will engage students during this closure. We are aware that some households have difficulty with technology, whether it is a lack of devices or internet connection. If you need to request a device, we ask that you please complete this form. Please understand that we have a limited number of devices and will do our best to accommodate your needs. If you do not have home Internet service, and while we are not endorsing any particular Internet service provider, we are aware that Spectrum is offering 60 days of free service. Paper copies will be made available to anyone who needs them.
I will be sending out an emails, posting new information on my website, as well as, on google classroom. In the meantime, please ensure the following:

Here is the latest news from the Superintendant:
As you are aware, since we first announced the district’s closure last week, much has changed with the nation’s and city’s response to the Coronavirus. The updates have certainly elevated our concerns with the health and well-being of all in our community. Additionally, the closing of our campuses has most likely been stressful for you and your family, so we want to provide you an update on our work as well as some resources that may be useful this week.
One of our main concerns is how to continue learning for your child(ren) in SCUC.
To help with this challenge and in effort to provide you some guidance, we are developing an SCUC-ISD Remote Learning plan which will be shared in the upcoming days. Additionally, our team has developed a list of open educational resources that you may want to use this week with your children. These open resources have been organized by content area to help keep your child’s learning moving forward and possibly help structure their day while our district is closed. These resources are not designed to provide instruction on new material, nor will these be graded or required. The goal is to focus on reinforcing foundation skills during this week.
While the resources linked to this letter are online, we recognize that not all of our families have access to technology or have internet service at home. If you have a device available in your home that your child(ren) can use, we encourage you to allow them to use it. If you need to request a device, we ask that you please complete this form. To receive the most up-to-date information regarding district news, we encourage you to download the SCUC mobile app and to verify that you are opted in to receive communication from the district and your child(ren)’s campus(es).
A number of questions are still out there such as making up days missed, graduation, AP and IB exams, class rank and more. We are working on getting answers together, but we don’t have the answers to many of those questions yet. Please know that we will get those to you as soon as we have the information to share. We were, however, notified by the Texas Education Agency earlier this week that STAAR testing has been canceled this year.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these uncharted waters. We miss your child(ren) and look forward to sharing our Remote Learning Plan with families in the next few days.
