Welcome to and Culinary Arts and Culinary Practicum !

It is my pleasure to teach Culinary Arts I and II.  These classes are lab experiences,  combining basic food preparation techniques with chemistry, physics and biology. I call it "cook and eat chemistry".    Students learn how food fuels thier bodies, how to make healthy choices, how to be informed consumers and much more.  There is a healthy dose of old fashioned manners, etiquette and home management skills  interwoven with food technology, career connections and biotechnology.

Culinary Classes teach more advanced cooking skills and nutrition, as well as skills needed to gain employment in the restaurant, tourism and hospitality industry.  Students in this class have the opportunity to earn college credits, as this class is aligned with junior colleges throughout Texas.  Competitions allow the students the chance to win scholarship money and visits from local restaurant chefs, food production facilities and culinary schools expose the students to professional opportunities after high school.
